Cách quảng bá du lịch hiệu quả: 3 chiến lược marketing thu hút khách

Tourism is changing rapidly. According to Google statistics, over 70% of Vietnamese tourists search for destinations online and via social media before deciding where to go. This means that if your local area, city, or tourist destination doesn't appear at the right time and in the right place, you are missing out on many opportunities. This article will help you understand how to effectively promote tourism, from building a marketing plan to leveraging social media and digital communication tools, to attract more tourists at a reasonable cost and with practical, easy-to-apply methods.

Strategy 1: Develop an Effective Tourism Marketing Plan

Step 1: Identify Unique Advantages for Effective Tourism Promotion

1. List available activities and attractions

  • Document all tourism activities, experiences, events, and attractions in the local area.

  • Tourists often search for activities first, then locations (e.g., rock climbing, fishing, SUP boarding...), as they are more interested in "what to do" than "where to go".

  • Prioritize activities with high search demand to increase visibility on Google.

2. Focus on elements unique to your local area

  • Choose unique, distinct features tied to the local identity: characteristic landscapes, novel experiences, interesting stories.

  • Even a small or "unusual" spot can pique curiosity and attract tourists if presented correctly.

  • Clearly ask yourself: What makes tourists willing to make a special trip just to come here?

3. Select and highlight 3 core strengths

  • Work with the tourism planning board or relevant stakeholders to agree on the 3 strongest points of the local area.

  • The more specific (experiences, activities, stories) the easier it is to attract visitors compared to general information.

Step 2: Survey the Community to Develop the Right Tourism Strategy

1. Conduct surveys among local residents

  • Surveys are a crucial tool for effective tourism planning and promotion, helping to gather real data instead of assumptions.

  • Community feedback helps the local area unify its brand image and marketing message, avoiding impulsive tourism development.

2. Prioritize direct surveys for reliable information

  • Conduct direct interviews or phone surveys to increase the accuracy and depth of responses.

  • Local residents often best understand what tourists are looking for and what the actual experience is like.

3. Focus on questions that reflect actual tourism needs

  • What attracts tourists to the local area?

  • Which groups of visitors often come: families, youth, leisure travelers, or experience seekers?

  • What needs to be improved to enhance the tourist experience and increase the likelihood of return visits?

Step 3: Survey Tourists to Improve Tourism Promotion Effectiveness

1. Gather direct feedback from visiting tourists

  • Conduct direct interviews at crowded locations such as shopping centers, tourist sites, and local markets.

  • Encourage tourists to sign up for email lists to receive post-trip surveys, helping to gather more detailed and honest data.

2. Focus on questions that reflect actual travel behavior

  • Where do tourists currently live?

  • What attracted them to this area?

To effectively promote online tourism, businesses should combine digital marketing with engaging content. Optimizing travel SEO, running Google Ads and Facebook Ads, and building a user-friendly website help reach customers quickly. Most importantly, creating practical content such as guides and travel experiences increases credibility and attracts searchers.

Effective tourism marketing strategies should focus on customer experience. Businesses can tell their brand story, share authentic photos and videos, and implement promotional programs. When combining tourism marketing with social media, you can easily create engagement and encourage customers to share their experiences, thereby spreading brand awareness more naturally.

A sustainable tourism brand requires three key elements: quality service, consistent communication, and distinctive value. Businesses should focus on delivering memorable experiences while maintaining a professional image on their website and social media channels. When the brand is clearly established, combined with an appropriate tourism promotion strategy, customers will more easily recognize and trust it.
